The Woder Gen4 water filters exhibit a remarkable improvement in their ability to remove heavy metals, making them even more effective in safeguarding the quality and purity of your drinking water. However, it is important to note that a potential challenge may arise when transitioning from a Gen3 replacement cartridge to a Gen4 replacement cartridge.
In approximately 3% to 5% of cases, visible leaks have been observed during the installation process. Extensive analysis of this issue has revealed that the root cause can be attributed to slight differences in the upper “teethes” of the cartridge (above the threads). Over time, the Gen3 cartridge becomes “married” to the mounting head, because of various factors such as heat conditions and sedimentation present in the municipal water supply. This marriage between the cartridge and the mounting head affects the flexibility of the latter, preventing it from adjusting adequately to the upper “teethes” of the Gen4 cartridge.
Consequently, this mismatch leads to the occurrence of leaks, that are visible during installation. To address this challenge, we strongly recommend replacing the mounting head when switching from a Gen3 to a Gen4 replacement cartridge.
