Single Stage 20µ sediment, dust, dirt, and contaminants filtration (Sediment Water Filter)
Product Dimensions: 15.1″ X 3.6″ (8.6″ space needed with the hoses) X 2.52″
Cartridge lifespan: 1 year under warranty.
Capacity (in gallons): Dependent on sedimentation levels in your water.
Filtration Capabilities: The Woder WD-20m inline water filter is a POU 20µ pre-sedimentation water filter, specifically for sediment, dirt, sand, rust, and contaminant removal.
NO PLUMBING REQUIRED – The Woder WD-20m-JG comes with a Woder WD-20m-REP cartridge, head with built-in shut off valve and 2 built in John Guest fittings on both sides – fits all 1/4″ Plastic Flex Tubing and Flexible Copper Tubing used for water supply to ice makers, refrigerators, dedicated filtered water faucets, RV’s and more. 1/4” JG also fits 1/8″ PEX TUBING as its O.D. (outer diameter) is the same as 1/4” tubing. DOES NOT FIT BRAIDED HOSES.
MADE IN THE USA – Actual size: 12″ X 3.6″ X 3″. Installation: Vertical (Preferred).
Inline Sediment Pre-Filter (WD-20M-JG)
The WD-20M-JG is a single-stage sediment pre-filter built to mechanically trap dirt, sand, and rust before they reach your fridge, ice maker, or any other line it’s installed on. It’s worth being clear about what this cartridge doesn’t do: this is mechanical filtration only, not a contaminant-removal product, so it won’t touch chlorine, lead, or anything chemical. If you’re on well water, older plumbing, or you’ve noticed visible particulate in your water, that’s the situation this pre sediment filter is built for.
Protecting Your Gen4 Cartridge
The main reason to run a sediment pre filter ahead of an advanced filtration stage is protection. Sediment is abrasive, and running it straight into a Gen4 Advanced cartridge can shorten that cartridge’s working life. A dedicated pre filter sediment stage like this one catches the particulate first, so whatever comes after it, whether that’s a Gen4 filter or just your appliance directly, sees cleaner water going in.
Installation matches the rest of our inline lineup: John Guest push-to-connect fittings on standard quarter-inch tubing, which covers most refrigerators, ice makers, and RV water systems. As a water pre filter sediment filter setup, there’s no soldering or thread sealant involved, just a push-fit connection you can complete in a few minutes. Any sediment pre filter system running on quarter-inch JG-style lines will fit the same way.
Installation and Replacement Schedule
How often to replace this pre-sediment filter depends on how much particulate your water actually carries. Households on well water with heavier sediment loads will typically need to swap sooner than those on cleaner municipal supply. A noticeable drop in flow rate is usually the clearest sign it’s time. This filter is designed and packaged in the USA. For a replacement cartridge, see our Replacement Cartridges category.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a sediment pre-filter remove?
It physically catches dirt, sand, rust, and similar particulate down to about 20 microns. It’s a mechanical filter only, so it doesn’t reduce chlorine or other chemical contaminants.
Does this filter remove chlorine or other contaminants?
No, this is mechanical filtration only. For chemical contaminant reduction like chlorine, lead, or PFAS, pair this with a Gen4 Advanced cartridge or choose one of our dual-stage combo products.
How often should this cartridge be replaced?
It depends on how much sediment your water carries. Heavier particulate loads, common on well water, will call for more frequent swaps than cleaner municipal supply. A drop in flow rate is a reliable cue either way.
