It’s the same 20-micron media as the original sediment water filter cartridge you started with, just fresh.

What this cartridge removes hasn’t changed from the original: it’s mechanical filtration only, catching dirt, sand, and rust down to about 20 microns, with no chemical media involved. A sediment cartridge filter like this one won’t reduce chlorine or lead, that’s not its job, but it does keep particulate out of your fixtures and protects any downstream Gen4 stage from abrasive buildup. Every water sediment filter cartridge we sell for this line uses the same media spec, so performance stays consistent replacement after replacement.
